Welcome back to Shopify Weekly, a newsletter created and published on Sundays. This week, we have a very big event: Shopify Editions Summer'24, where Shopify summarizes and displays a series of upgrades to their platform from the beginning of the year to the present. Among these, there are numerous noteworthy changes for developers, which is interesting!

In addition to Shopify Editions, we have fresh changes in the Shopify changelog. Finally, there are various articles and tutorials from YouTubers and bloggers. It has been a week full of information, let us explore together.

 

1. Shopify Editions summer ’24

This is the most important event of the week, Shopify has identified 177 modifications to their platform between January 2024 and the present. 52 of them are categorized as developers. Here are some important updates:

Shopify updated their platform and apps this week, introducing the Combined Listings app among other noteworthy changes:

 

3. Block checkout progress using Checkout UI Extension

In this Stacking Context's video, we will look at how to use a Shopify Checkout UI Extension and the Buyer Intercept API to stall progress at Checkout. This will enable us to collect and check the necessary information before allowing the buyer to complete their transaction.

 

4. Klaviyo: How to configure out-of-stock items for automated flows on Shopify?

Learn how to avoid displaying out-of-stock items in abandoned carts or browsing abandoned emails by changing how dynamic content is filled in your emails.

If you frequently sell out of popular things, a consumer may place an item in his or her cart one minute and return hours later to discover that the same item is no longer available. While abandoned cart and browse abandonment flows can generate significant income for your company, fast-moving inventory might make it difficult to deliver effective reminders. Encouraging clients to return to a basket full of out-of-stock items might create a stressful shopping experience.

5. Dawn theme v15.0.0 is released

The most recent version of the Dawn theme was launched this week. You may find it on Github

6. How to set up TikTok on Shopify? (non-tech)

7. New JavaScript Set methods

New JavaScript Set methods are now available in most major browser engines since Firefox 127. These methods are designed to check the contents of sets compared to the contents of another specific set.

Brian Smith's blog post is a nice read for those who are new to Set in JavaScript and want to learn how to use the new JavaScript techniques. The article is available in its entirety here.

 

8. How to add a simple upsell to cart without application?

An additional video from The Prompted shows us how to create a straightforward Upsell feature using the Dawn theme without the need for an additional application.

 

9. Shopify’s new managed pricing for apps

In this video, Alex walks us through some of Shopify's adjustments and provides a new way to create the Pricing feature for a public application.
